The most difficult time in having a pet in your life is when you must make their end of life decisions. Old age, untreatable disease or serious injury can interfere with your pet’s quality of life. The decision to assist your pet through this stage is very emotionally painful, but inevitable and necessary. The dedication  and love you have shared with your pet  continues into this stage of your relationship. It is not a failure to make the decision to allow your pet the dignity to leave without prolonged pain, suffering or the loss of ability to live its life the way they have known. It is a responsibility. 

We are here to assist you with the various stages of this process:  assessing your pets quality of life and any other reasonable health care options, and providing a calm, painless procedure when you know it is time to help them go.

Euthanasia may be done at our clinic or a housecall  ( link to HC) may be arranged to allow your pet to have their last moments with you in the comfort of their familiar surroundings. We welcome family members to attend in either situation.

What happens after euthanasia?

Cremation is the recommended method of care of animal’s bodies following death .  Burial of the body is an option that is not available to most pet owners, but if you do have an area to bury  your pet in an environmentally safe manner, in accordance with local by-laws., we will prepare them to be transported from the clinic as required.

Cremation can be arranged so that you have your pet’s ashes returned to you.

We make the arrangements for your pet’s body to be transported to the cremation facility. If you have chosen to have your pet’s ashes returned, we will contact you when they are ready for you to pick up.
