Low level light / Cold laser therapy

Physical rehabilitation is a necessity to achieve as full a recovery as possible following injury or surgery.

Pets respond to discomfort by avoiding the use of the painful area. If not encouraged by specific treatments and exercises, affected areas of the body may not return to normal function or comfort levels.

The application of the principle that light at certain wavelengths is absorbed by body tissues and, through inhibition or stimulation of biological processes, can produce many beneficial effects.

Laser light is an organized light beam that penetrates tissue to varying levels depending on the wavelength.  The most commonly used wavelengths for physical therapy are in the visible  ( red) and infrared ( not visible) spectrums, Blue and ultraviolet treat bacterial infections

 Red light:

  • Has very low penetrating capabilities
  • Used to treat skin and more superficial tissues.
  • Helpful in decreasing skin inflammation and promoting wound healing.

Infra red (invisible) light.

  • Penetrates into and through muscle layers
  • Can reach deeper areas of the body depending on the wavelength and exposure times
  • Decreases inflammation in muscles and around joints
  • Decrease pain
  • Improve organ function,
  • Stimulate nerve regeneration and improve nerve function.

Specific disorders that respond to laser therapy include:

  • Skin regeneration and wound healing
  • Muscle and tendon injuries,
  • Inflammation in skin, muscle, joints
  • Osteoarthritis,
  • Pain
    • Nerve pain
    • Joint pain
    • Nerve pain
    • Soft tissue pain,
  • Generation of stem cells
  • Nerve injury
